OUGD504. Design Production. What is Design for Print? aspects of print group disambiguation.

today we had a session with phil and lorraine discussing the research and thoughts we had on the different aspects of print and how they related to each other/didnt. in groups we re-discussed the main categories and pooled our opinions of what each one entailed and meant in relation to print. we then wrote down our group definition of each category and what things it included. after that we had a whole class discussion about what each group had considered and how these differed between groups. to finalise we made a whole class summary of what each category meant.

  • format - scale and size and working within that.
  • colour - colour modes, hues, function etc.
  • production - the actual making of it.
  • process - the method.
  • finishing - production and process.
  • stock - substrates for printing and consideration.

we then thought about how each topic is mutually exclusive to the others while simultaneously being interlinked.
