OUGD505. Design Practice 2. Studio Brief 3 - Movie Poster Design.

Design and produce a two colour print for your given Jack Nicholson movie, the final prints will be part of a Level 04/05 movie poster exhibition and uploaded to the AMP website.
Think visually, explore both literal and lateral responses. Explore working with text and image, both combined and separately.

i got the film 'the wild ride'

The Wild Ride is a 1960 American film directed by Harvey Berman and starring Jack Nicholson as a rebellious punk named Johnny, of the Beat generation, who spends his days as an amateur dirt track driver in between partying and troublemaking. The film has become part of the public domain and is considered by some to be a cult classic.

i watched the film and really enjoyed the difference in style, colloquial language, and values. i thought it was amazing how differently people acted back then. i took some stills from the movie i thought were prevelant:

then i looked at some other film posters from the time:

i then did some mock ups in illustrator and developed my final idea.

i then printed the final outcome:

the board:

i then submitted my design to the site:

i think the turn out of the biref went well as it only took me an hour to complete the design (munis research). my illsutartor skills improved from the brief and i feel as thought my visual concept developemtn in line with a topic or specific thing improved. i enjoyed watching the film and liked my design also.
